Why the Second Half of the Year Can Still Be Your Strongest Yet

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” ~ Isaiah 43:18–19
Sis, can I be honest with you for a minute? I blinked...and somehow we're already in the second half of the year. How sway?!
Actually, not just the second half—we're already in the second week of the second half of the year. How did that happen?!
Maybe your year has been everything you hoped it would be. If so, I'm genuinely celebrating with you. But if you're anything like me, maybe it hasn't unfolded quite the way you imagined back in January.
Remember the fresh planner? The vision board? The goals? We were going to finally get organized, spend more time with God, take better care of ourselves, start the business, pay off the debt, heal, write the book, and become the woman we knew we could be.
Then life happened.
Unexpected bills. Family responsibilities. Work deadlines. Health challenges. Disappointments. Challenges we didn't see coming. Days when simply making it to bedtime felt like a victory.
Somewhere along the way, our carefully written plans were replaced with simply surviving.
If that's where you find yourself today, I want you to hear this:
You are not behind. You are still becoming.
One of the beautiful things about God is that He isn't limited by our calendars. While we tend to think in quarters, deadlines, and January-to-December timelines, God works in seasons. He isn't scrambling because we missed a goal or skipped a habit. He's still writing the story.
A “new thing” doesn't have to begin on January 1. Sometimes it begins on an ordinary Friday in July.
What I've Been Learning in the Quiet

One thing I've been learning is that silence doesn't mean God is absent. Some of the most meaningful work He does happens beneath the surface—where no one else can see it. Seeds don't look impressive while they're underground. Neither do roots. But both are growing.
Sometimes God is more interested in developing our character than expanding our platform. He's more interested in strengthening our faith than speeding up our timeline.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Even the detours. Even the delays. Even the disappointments.
Why the Second Half Can Be Stronger
Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that God's mercies are new every morning—not every January. That means today qualifies. Every sunrise is another invitation.
One thing I've been enjoying lately is slowing down with my Bible instead of rushing through a reading plan. I'll sit with just a few verses, underline what stands out, and write my prayers in the margins of a journaling Bible. It's become less about checking a box and more about spending time with God.
The enemy loves convincing us that we've wasted too much time. God simply invites us to take the next faithful step.
Maybe this is the season where your confidence returns. Maybe this is the season where your marriage begins to heal. Maybe this is the season where you finally say yes to something God placed on your heart years ago. Maybe this is the season where you stop chasing perfection and simply choose faithfulness.
Whatever it is, it is not too late.
Five Questions I'm Asking Myself
As I look toward the rest of this year, these are the questions I'm sitting with. Maybe they'll encourage you too.
1. What do I need to release before I can move forward?
2. Where has God already been faithful that I've forgotten to acknowledge?
3. What one habit would make the biggest difference in my spiritual growth?
4. What have I been postponing because I'm waiting for the “perfect” time?
5. If I finish this year closer to Jesus than I started, wouldn't that already be a successful year?
What I'm Choosing for the Rest of This Year

I'm choosing progress over perfection.
Presence over pressure.
Obedience over comparison.
Faith over fear.
And consistency over occasional bursts of motivation.
Will I get everything right?
Probably not. But I'm learning that God isn't asking me to be perfect. He's asking me to be faithful.
A Few Things Helping Me Reset This Season
Can I let you in on a little secret?

Your Chayil Challenge This Week

Grab your favorite journal (or even the notes app on your phone) and answer these three questions:
• What am I leaving behind in the first half of this year?
• What am I believing God for in the months ahead?
• What's one faithful step I can take this week?
Don't worry about accomplishing everything. Just take the next step.
Because one faithful step, repeated over time, can completely change the direction of your life.
I'd love to hear from you in the comments. What's one word that describes what you're believing God for in this second half of the year?
Sis, let's finish this year stronger than we started—together.
